Video Style

I researched Fever Ray's unusual style of music video and completed a textual analysis grid for their video to their track 'When I Grow Up'. From this i've discovered they show virtually no images of Performance yet present quite a few Conceptual ideas which accompany an ambiguous and interesting Narrative.
this is interesting as performance usually features in videos of the electronica genre, however we can use our editing skills to synch the music sounds to actions and shot cuts which may make it more dynamic and affective and keep to Fever Rays video themes.

considering this we will need our narrative to be imaginative. i think our initial idea we got from looking at the lyrics will work excellently. Our main character will be a girl resembling Karin (artist), as each video seems to do this. She will be the only performer and will mime the song as if it is her own thoughts. i think our idea of having her speak to 'animals' ,who are people in animal costumes, is intriguing and reflects our interpretation of the song. we will have maybe 3 locations to follow themes of Fever Ray, one in a  natural environment, one where we will use strobe and flash lighting yet put our own spin on it with figures dancing and others to present interesting images.

this is an idea of the type of animal costumes we could have, there are different animals on the KIGU website where i found the image.  http://kigu.co.uk/
It looks extremely comfy and is easily recognizable for our audience.

Adult Wolf Costume

I also like the look of this wolf costume I found on...
But it is way to expensive as we need about 5 different animals.

We could also consider using animal masks, they will hide our performers faces and are a lot cheaper. i think masks look more artistic and i also own quite a few anyway for dressing up.
I have masks like both types below, hard and soft plastic.
to add to the narrative and illusion of our piece, our performers could wear all black except for animal masks on their faces.
