The last activity we did was brainstorm who our intended target audience is. It is important to think about this because we are not making a music video for ourselves, but for our intended audience to enjoy. If it appeals to the target audience and fulfils the purpose of a music video, then the job is done. Alice and I brainstormed our ideas about our target audience whilst thinking about the 6 areas:
· Age
· Gender
· Sexuality
· Subculture
· Class
· Ideology
As well as this, we also thought about how we knew this information (e.g. through dominant and recessive ideologies) and where we got this from. We also considered and wrote down what techniques our artist (which is Fever Ray) use to reach this target audience and how successful it was at reaching the target audience. To be honest, I am new to ambient/electro-pop music so Alice was able to contribute more on these questions.
Dean was absent for this lesson, so Alice and I worked together and discussed ideas on the concept of our music video. Alice has already come up with an idea, so we are going to work on and develop this. We discussed her idea and where we would film it. We estimated a number of 5 actors – 1 being the main female and the other 4 are ‘animals’. We were thinking of filming in Alice’s back garden and woods in the area where she lives. To give us enough time, we plan to film in October half term which will give us five weeks of solid editing which is plenty of time.
