PITCH PART 2

Friday 8th October 2010
We delivered our pitch presentation today. On the whole, I think it went positively well with a mixed balance of positive and negative feedback from people in our class. I think we explained ourselves really well to the audience because they seemed to get the angle we are approaching from. Electro-pop/ambient music isn’t a popular music genre and in a way, the genre caters for a niche market. I’d say we had the toughest job explaining to the audience so they could understand the conventions of the genre and what we aim to do in our music video. After delivering the presentation, the class had to write their feedback and suggestions on sticky notes. The comments were mostly positive with the majority of the class agreeing that our idea for our music video is do-able and different in a good way. They liked our interpretation of the song especially as the lyrics don’t convey a clear meaning. The fact the lyrics and meaning of the song is ambiguous means that we can do anything with it. The video wouldn’t see ‘odd’ because the main focus is on the singer and electronic music and not the lyrics or the ‘catch phrase/hook’. Most of the class also like the idea of using masks. It creates a sense of unity, ambiguous and works in conjunction with the ‘dream-like’ theme.
One group suggested that if you had a box or a wheelie bin for the girl to jump into and out of, it would be difficult for her to actually do that. This is a valid point and we will discuss this in our group to see how we can work around this. Another group questioned if the lighting outside will work. We are going to use natural lighting in the woods but for the second location which is in a dark surrounding with flashing lights. We are going to use Alice’s shed as a dark surrounding and use the different coloured gel lights from college to create the light effect we visualise. In terms of getting good actors, we have already got actors that are comfortable performing in front of the camera and are reliable. Acting is the career they all want to go into so the shouldn’t disappoint us when it comes to filming. We aim to film over half term when everybody’s off college.
Thought’s from the presentation:
The presentation was beneficial to us because it enabled us to think and plan ahead. We have a rough concept of what we aim to shoot and all we need to do know is develop the ideas and make sure they are realistic. One way we could do this is by all of us checking the locations before the shooting date and making sure that what we plan is realistic and do-able.

The above image shows te comments we recieved from the peers in our media class.
