Main Performer

For our main performer we wanted to create a strange yet interesting and original style keeping elements of Karin, with the long hair and face-paint, but adding more life and brightness as the Rex the Dog remix is a lot more upbeat.

. Using a wig makes her appearance more dramatic and adds to the 'imaginary' dream-like tone as the hair is bright pink and unrealistic.

. Glitter will also add to this and i've had the idea to put the glitter on her eyebrows instead of eyes just to add more originality.

. i love the costumes that Empire of the Sun use and also Karin herself in Fever Ray's other videos. we want this overall quirky style yet we want to make it a bit more exciting and fresh with elements of Pop like the wigs that Katie Perry uses in 'California Gurls'

i have done quite a few test shots of my outfits our main performer could wear... 

1. This long patterned dress has elements of the woodland feel we want with the leaves but the shape was a bit boring and straight.

2. This gold dress is very exciting and original and will be great for the indoor 'crazy room' shooting as the flashing lights will bounce of its reflective surface. the only thing is we'll have to be careful it doesn't fall down as there are no arm straps.  

3. i thought this zebra outfit could make a good animal concept   for the video: the other animals only have masks but she only has printed costume singling her out. however i think our video has enough to it already and we don't want to confuse our audience so they become agitated.

4. i really like this shiny red dress, it has a red riding hood feel to it but i think the outfit should be longer and covering more of the performer like they do in other Fever Ray videos.

5. This final dress is perfect for the woodland shots. it has elements of life and nature with the bright flowers which will stand out in the brown and green environment and is a good length.

i tried each dress with either a lion or cow hat to see if it would work. but all the outfits looked better without. i think it's best to separate the main performer from the animals quite distinctively than have them linked by the animalistic image.

Animal Performers

we are having 3 performers wearing animal masks. all the actors have long hair so we either want them to wear their hair high in a top-bun or down over their mask strings.

. they will all be wearing black leggings and tops to make the masks the main feature of their costume and make it more representative than realistic adding to the strangness and artistic feel of the video.

. i was influenced by fashion magazine pictures for the idea of the masks.

this video shows me demonstrating each of the masks we are using and also saying that all the animal actors will be wearing all black like me to make the masks the main representative feature. saddly the sound isn't working but visually you can see what each mask looks like.

I have also been exploring ideas for facepaint designs for the main performer...
